Coro Cybersecurity tapped a well-known channel leader from the cybersecurity software market for its Americas business.

Joe Sykora has signed on as senior vice president and general manager of the Americas for the Israel-based company. Sykora joins the company as Coro expands across the world in search of small and medium-sized business customers.

Sykora’s hiring mirrors a similar personnel move. Coro in January announced that it had tapped Piers Morgan as its senior vice president and general manager of EMEA. That appointment came after the launch of an office in London and a $100 million Series D funding round.

At the time, co-founder Dror Liwer pointed to the channel and international expansion as areas for investment.

“Two objectives we would like to accomplish as part of this funding round are, first, adding more capabilities to our partner program – more tools, more people, more content, and more enablement,” Liwer said. “In addition to that, based on our partners’ request, part of the proceeds will fund global expansion, enabling our partners to offer Coro to their international customers, specifically in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union.”

Who Is Joe Sykora?

Sykora most recently worked at Proofpoint as senior vice president of worldwide channels and partner sales. Prior to Proofpoint, he led global sales and channels at Bitdefender. He also worked at Fortinet from 2010 to 2017 and his ended his run there as vice president of Americas channels.

He currently sits on the Channel Executive Council with the likes of former Comcast channel leader Craig Schlagbaum and Veeam’s Larissa Crandall.

Sykora’s roots in the channel, particularly in the MSP space, run deep. He founded his own MSP, InterSpace Computers, in 1996. After selling InterSpace, he founded security services provider and reseller Fortress Network Security in 2001.

Coro has been growing its base of MSP partners. It partnered with Viirtue to white-label its platform to MSPs and more recently teamed up with Adaptiv Networks. Coro also goes to market through technology advisors in a commission-based model.
